March/April 2019 Late Night Dining Guide

Got the late night munchies? Our River City Guide to Late-Night Dining offers a variety of late-night options all over town. While your in-town choices are virtually limitless, there are some great late-night spots out in the burbs, as well.

Bar Louie
11788 W. Broad St. (Short Pump Town Center) | 804-440-7301

Yes, there is life after dark in Short Pump and much of it is to be found at Bar Louie. Enjoy a variety of appetizers, sliders, nachos, burgers, salads and sandwiches…and your favorite beverages. The restaurant is open ‘til 2 a.m. every night and the kitchen doesn’t close until 1:30. (Short Pump)

Bottoms Up Pizza

Feast on some of the best pizza the city has to offer until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Bottoms Up closes at 11 on Thursdays and Sundays and is open ‘til 10 the rest of the week. Not in the mood for a pizza ? They also offer fantastic burgers, salads, sandwiches and more. Bottoms Up includes a great craft beer selection, too. (Shockoe Bottom)

Grandstaff & Stein

What’s a Shockoe Bottom bookstore doing open until midnight (2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday)? Stop in and find out why they call this “Fine dining with a secret.” The secret lies behind the bookshelves, but you need to get the password first. Check the website for that and other info. Great American Ranch

Head on over to the Great American Ranch for such delicious fare as rib eye, pork chops, even shrimp and grits. There’s plenty to choose from including sandwiches, salads, pasta and tacos. Also, catch your favorite sporting events on one of their 32 TVs. The restaurant is open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays (serving food ‘til 1). It’s open until 10 p.m. the rest of the week. The Grill

Open ‘til 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and ‘til 11 ever other night, The Grill offers an eclectic menu, a fantastic raw bar and your favorite adult beverages. While you can order off the lunch and dinner menu until 10 (11 on Friday and Saturdays), a limited food menu is available during late hours. (West End)

The Jasper

“Full pours and honest prices…that’s the promise at The Jasper.” This is the sort of no-frills bar you’d have found only in the big cities a generation ago. Run by two of the city’s most talented bartenders, The Jasper is the ultimate late-night bar. The menu is limited, offering appetizers, small plates and snacks; just what you want while enjoying a refreshing, finely crafted cocktail. You can order off the menu right up ‘til closing time, which is 2 a.m., seven nights a week. (Carytown)

Lalo’s Cocina Bar & Grill

Discover all your Mexican favorites, including Lalo’s own homemade chorizo and authentic soft tacos at this popular (Arthur Ashe) Boulevard-area restaurant. The
wrap-around bar is one of the coolest (and hottest) in town. Lalo’s is open ‘til 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 10 p.m. other weeknights. (Boulevard/Museum District)

101 W. Franklin (inside the Jefferson Hotel) | 804-649-4629

If you’re looking for that classy joint to put a cap on a night on the town, Lemaire, in the Jefferson Hotel, is just such a spot. It’s open until midnight seven nights a week. There’s a limited menu offering appetizers and small plates, but the smoked peanuts are free and delicious. The beverages aren’t free, but they sure are tasty. (Downtown)

My Noodle and Bar

Authentic Thai dishes and appetizers in a fun “underground” setting. My Noodle is open ‘til 2 a.m. Friday–Sunday nights, while the rest of the week they close at midnight. The kitchen is open ‘til midnight every day. This is the only restaurant on Monument Ave., which makes it a great spot for people watching on the patio in good weather. (Fan)

Poe’s Pub

Got a late-night hankering for some delicious corned beef and cabbage or a home-style meatloaf? Then do what many of the locals do. Head for the city’s quintessential neighborhood hangout – Poe’s Pub. Great burgers, sandwiches and salads are served along with cold beer and your favorite cocktails. Poe’s is open ‘til 2 a.m. most nights (midnight on Sunday and Monday.)The kitchen closes at 11 p.m. (midnight on Friday and Saturday.) (Shockoe Bottom/Church Hill)

Sabai brings authentic Thai street food to the streets of Richmond…Broad Street to be exact. In addition to the food, Sabai offers a lively bar scene. The restaurant is open until 2 a.m. every night and the kitchen doesn’t close until 1:30 a.m. (Boulevard/Museum District)

With three locations around town, the Sports Page offers plenty of live action on the TV screens and a large menu, which features their famous half-pound Angus beef burgers and their chicken wings. Closing times vary depending upon the location, so check their website. Don’t worry though, the kitchen is always open ‘til closing time with a limited menu in the late night. Weezie’s Kitchen

Offering sensational starters, such as seared Ahi tuna and sliders, along with salads and entrees, this cozy Carytown restaurant and bar is open until 2 a.m. seven nights a week. The kitchen doesn’t close until 1 a.m. (Carytown)
