Julep’s New Southern Cuisine Introduces Its New Summer Menu

Since 2003, Julep’s New Southern Cuisine has served some of the finest dinners in Downtown Richmond. Known as one of Richmond’s “Top Seven Sensations,” Julep’s new summer menu is sure to please even the pickiest of food lovers.

According to owner Amy Cabaniss, the new summer menu kicked off this week (July 9th) and includes tasty pork belly with a smoked sorghum and fresh corn on the cob griddlecakes, all prepared by Chef Cory Chaney.

If the summer menu isn’t enough to get you down to Julep’s, then you should check out their happy hour. Dubbed “5 at 5,” the two-hour after-work celebration is offered every Monday through Friday and is probably the most affordable, fine-dining happy hour in the area.

Cabaniss explains, “It’s the best happy hour in Richmond. The happy hour offers select appetizers, Mint Juleps, house cocktails, beer and wine all for five dollars each.”

Though the happy hour specials are for the bar and patio only, I don’t think that will curb anyone’s enthusiasm to attend. I know I’ll be there.

When the Julep’s New Southern Cuisine first opened, Cabaniss ran her restaurant out of a space in Shockoe Bottom but decided to move on once the lease was up. The new space at 420 E. Grace Street captures the essence of the 1920s Art Deco era. Cabaniss restored the original crown molding, pillars and the tile floor. So, what you see when you walk in is the result of her (and her crew’s) hard work. The interior is dark and dreamy and makes me wish for those days when you dressed up in gowns and suits for dinner.

Speaking of dressing up for special occasions, did you know that Julep’s offers an enchanting option to host corporate parties, rehearsal dinners and weddings from 20 to 200 people? That’s right, you can host your next big event and you won’t have to worry if the food is going to be delicious (it will be) or if the space is aesthetically pleasing (it is) because, simply put, Julep’s has an unparalleled reputation around town for their superior service and exceptional cuisine.

If you’re in search of a great patio, an awesome Happy Hour, fine dining and impeccable service, plan a visit to Julep’s and explore their new summer menu. Julep’s truly has it all!
